(-6) + (+4) =
These are the steps to solving this equation:
Step 1:
Write your equation in a sentence. For example:
(-6)+ (+4)= will look like this (-6)= owe 6 + = and (+4)= have 4
altogether your sentence will look like this: owe 6 and have 4
Step 2:
Now write your equation in tiles. For example:
- - - - - - The one that I have highlighted are your 0 pairs and they do not count. So the ones that are
+++ not highlighted you will count and then you write your answer in the equation. The answer is (-3).
Step 3:
Now you can make a number line, if it helps.
This is a number line.
Here are 4 of the integer problems that have all of these steps:
(-5) + (+3)= -2
owe 5 and have 3= owe 2
(+6) + (-4)= +2
have 6 and owe 4= have 2
(-6) + (-4) = -10
owe 6 and owe 4 = owe 10
(+6) + (4) = + 10
have 6 and have 4 = have 10

I tried playing the game and it was kind of hard to complete.
I liked how you did the visual. It was really neat and easy to know what's happening. But you accidentally changed +4 into a +3 on your ''step 2''. But everything else is wonderful. Thank you for your scribe post:)
ReplyDeleteGreat job, i really liked how you did more than one question to explain what you're doing for more reference. Also maybe for step 2 you could've made the zero pair more visual instead separate, like in one picture to show us whats really happening. But otherwise great job!
